Numbing options?
I provide minimal numbing options and absolutely DISCOURAGE THE USE OF ANYTHING BOUGHT ON AMAZON.
Topical numbing creams are useful but recently have been stated by the FDA to be dangerous when used in this manner. I have provided a list from the FDA's website that outlines numbing creams to avoid.
It is common to have allergic reactions as well as healing issues when using numbing cream. It effects the skin during the tattooing process, causing puffiness that pushes the ink out of the skin, leaving a lot of the work needing to be re done, and adding more time and money to your tattoo experience.
I have safe topical numbing spray, Bactine, that I can use if needed and will always plan your sessions according to your pain tolerance so you get the most out of your sessions and budget.
Avoid oral pain killers before your appointment as they thin your blood and might make you bleed more during your tattoo. Drinking the night before your appointment will have the same results.
I'm diabetic, can I still get tattooed?
Absolutely! Please bring this up when scheduling! It is important that you let me know your health issue(s) and/or concern(s) so I can give you the best tattoo and the best experience possible. This will also assist me with covering your best options for healing.
Please consult a doctor before scheduling if you have any medical concerns.
What if I'm allergic?
Don't stress! Tattoo inks have greatly improved so allergic reactions aren't as common as they use to be.
If you have an allergy to any artificial coloring please let me know, sometimes the same colored ink can cause issues. To avoid problems we can do a color test on your skin before you schedule.
When should I avoid getting tattooed?
-Less than 2 weeks before vacation, especially if you will be swimming, climbing, etc.
-Before donating blood and/or bone marrow. Speak to your doctor first.
-When taking certain medications. Some medications can cause issues with your healing process so consult your doctor ahead of your appointment if you have concerns.
-When skin on the area you want tattooed is broken, sunburnt, irritated, or when any conditions are flaring.
Will it hurt?
Yes and No.
Everyone has a different pain tolerance so what is painful for others might not be painful for you. Generally it feels like a hard cat scratch and the intensity changes with different areas on the body.
Can I see my design before my appointment?
Unless we are working on a large scale piece and/or cover up, designs are drawn according to my schedule to be ready on the day of your appointment.
Do you do face and hand tattoos?
Yes!
Because of the nature of hand and face tattoos fading easier/faster than other areas, there's about a 70% chance it will need to be touched up so your first touch up is free. I will go over all of the details and best healing process for these placements when you schedule.
Do you do piercings?
I don't currently have a piercer but can refer you to one that I trust!
I’d like to change my idea for my tattoo! How do I do that?
If you have any big changes you'd like to make, please let me know at least 5 days before your appointment so we can discuss. This will also give me time to redraw your design.
I can't accommodate large changes or complete redraws on the day of your appointment due to scheduling, so please make changes in a timely manner so we don't have to reschedule.
Do you do Cover ups and reworks?
Absolutely! These are some of my favorite pieces to do!
I love the challenge of pieces like this so please don't be afraid to ask. :)
Do cover ups hurt more?
Sometimes, yes. This depends on the amount of scarring from the previous tattoo.
I recommend laser removal to lighten your tattoo before you start a cover up, especially if it's a dark piece.
Do you do scar cover ups?
I do!
Scar cover ups are a bit different so I'll need to see the scar in person before moving forward with a design.
The age of your scar is very important in this process as well.
As your scar ages, it changes quite a bit. Fresh scarring, within a year, is different from a scar that's 2+ years old and has a lot of changes to go through before its ready to be tattooed over. Sensitivity plays a huge role in this as well, newer scars are more painful to go over and won't hold ink as the scar hasn't settled in yet.
Is the ink vegan?
Yes.
All of the products I use are vegan and biodegradable/environmentally friendly.
Do you do Gift Certificates?
I don't. I can however book appointments for loved ones if you would like to set that up as a gift.
Thanks for reading! If you have any questions that aren't answered, feel free to ask! Please know there are no stupid questions and clear communication is key to providing you with the best experience that I can. Can't wait to tattoo you! :)
