- MY PRACTICES WITH THE QUILLS ARE ALL BASED IN FEATURING ANCIENT TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES AND BRINGING THE HISTORY OF TATTOOING TO THE PUBLIC EYE. I HAVE CREATED CEREMONY OF MY OWN WITHIN THIS TO RESPECT THE PRACTICE OF TATTOOING. - I have been tattooing for 11 years and put sanitation and my clients safety above everything that I do. Whether that’s in a shop or at an event, I make 100% sure my set up is clean and there is no cross contamination. - I am blood borne pathogens certified & event licensed per each states regulations. - The yurt that I work out of at festivals is split in half for my workspace allowing room to operate safely. The other half is for seating for clients. - The tattoo workspace (floor & tattoo bed) is covered in marine grade PVC vinyl that is cleaned and then sanitized with Cavicide (kills all bacteria and transmittable diseases in minutes) before and after every client. This is standard practice in tattoo shops in almost all 50 states. - I work off of an elevated metal tray that is covered with a barrier of plastic and a dental bib. All items on this tray are clean and single use, disposed of after every client. - Every surface used to tattoo is sanitized before and after every client. - A hand wash station is included in my set up to follow proper hand washing procedures before, during, and after every client. - All of my quills are cleaned in the shop that I’m working out of with washed and gloved hands. I use green soap and distilled water to scrub them, followed by alcohol, followed by Cavicide and immediately bagged in standard sterilization pouches used in every tattoo shop across the country. - These quills are sanitized a 4th time with alcohol after being removed from their pouch at the beginning of each session. - I do not use barbed quills in this process so filing them is a step that is not required. - I do not use the same quill on more than 1 client. - Gloves are removed if I leave the tattoo work space and hands are washed before exiting and re entering the workspace to put a fresh pair of gloves on. - I touch nothing outside of my metal tray with gloved hands. - An aftercare sheet is provided for each client along with a bag to keep their necklace in. - The quill that each client goes home with is sanitized a 5th and 6th time with alcohol and then Cavicide again before sealing with wax, put on a necklace, and placed in the bag with aftercare instructions. - This bag also includes a second bandage in case anything happens with the bandage I apply immediately after their tattoo. - Clients are bandaged with Recovery Derm. This is a clear plastic bandage that seals the tattoo from contamination and can be worn for up to 5-7 days. - Every client is asked about potential allergies to any and all of the supplies used that come in contact with their skin and safe alternatives are provided if allergic to the bandage type. - All clients fill out a standard release form and provide ID. - No one under 18 is tattooed for any reason. Period. - All inks used are well within their expiration date and excess is disposed of after every client. - My wash bottles are green soap+distilled water and one for alcohol. - All tattoos are wiped with alcohol to remove any contaminants before applying the bandage.
